I think the argument has got to be that there are certain types of institutions which are so fundamental to the functioning of the movement of savings into real investment in an economy that on very rare occasions — and this is one of them — it’s desirable to prevent them from liquidating in a sharply disruptive manner.”

I think that Greenspan’s quote hits at a cause for real fear: if the institutions that shepherd money into the businesses that drive growth in the economy cease to exist, the economy will cease to exist. With AIG on the ropes, many of the largest institutions that facilitate liquidity to drive growth are in dire straits. This week is sure to be an interesting one.

The implication being that open markets aren’t capable of self-regulation? If the market dictates that liquidation of certain financial institutions is necessary, shouldn’t we let that happen?

After testing different application, I am sure that tumblr could be the best application for lifestreaming. Just few things are missing:

a tag to insert the thumbnail of the videos.

a post type navigation

Improve the tagging function , self-tagging some posts and use TagAsClasses to applicate to real tags (and this would resolve point number 2)

add these few things and (for me) you are perfect!

It sounds like you’re referring to Sweetcron, and I agree, there are only a few things keeping tumblr from being the perfect lifestream app.

Any thoughts? I think I’m leaning mostly toward the MX Revolution at this point.

I have an MX Revolution and I love it. Make sure you install the driver/preference pane so you can fine tune the settings, like the speed it switches to flywheel mode. It’s pretty easy to push the scrollwheel left instead of straight in, so maybe you can just map the middle click functionality you want to that?

I use an MX Revolution and wouldn’t even consider another mouse.
